This is an invaluable tool for drawing bearing lines from your sub to the target.

#SILENT HUNTER 3 RESOLUTION FIX MOD#

To me, the most important one is the Bearing Mod by Jace11, even though it says it is for the TDC, it places a compass rose around your ship at low zoom. OK, cant finish this post without some tips for the other lone hunters out there! The ship was a PITA, but oh so satisfying hearing the moans and explosions as she went down. I maneuver to the other side of the ship, at least 400m away set aft torp fuse for impact at 5m and finish her off. After waiting a couple of minutes, it doesn't look like this one is going down quite so easy. Multiple fires on deck, and the bow is slightly bobbing under the waves.the ship's engine is dead. Slow ahead to intercept and assess damage. No duds here! Although I didnt have visual when firing, I can now see through the fog and haze the fore deck of the ship is on fire. TDC should be set, so I quickly hop to the UZO, move the bearing to 008, Fire 1! Move to 010, Fire 2 and wait. Fsck! he is already at 005 and moving away. I quickly switch to the Hydrophone and dial in the ship. The ship is getting close.so I ask for constant bearing updates. I hope my AOB estimates are close enough.but with a big ship and short range, I have a decent chance of hitting something.

Unfortunately the ship was to pass only within 600m, too far away for visual.

Tried to get the sonar guy to keep updating bearing and ping for distance. As I lie in wait, I prepare the torps, I feed data into the TDC ahead of time, 10m depth for fish 1 and fish 2, estimated the AOB from the course I had plotted, and had already determined a 6knot ship speed. This didnt happen once, but TWICE!Īfter my heart calmed down a bit, at least I knew I had a juicy target, and moved around and ahead of the ship to try and unleash some explosive fish. FLANK SPEED NOW DAMMIT! I cleared the bow of the ship with about 5m to spare. Then my deck watchman yelled "SHIP SPOTTED", I hop on deck turn right and see a C2 Cargo ship barreling towards my broadside from 300m out. On the first target, I got in position and waited. I then positioned myself to what expected to be within 500m as the ship passed. I was able to get good course estimates using the hydrophone within 6000m and using active sonar to get ranges. I was finally able to track down a couple of ships with a bit more tonnage and tried to test my blind hunting skills. Talk about a challenge? How bout 89% realism settings trying to fire torpedos when visibility is I reach the patrol zone, and UGH.we've got rain and fog and slightly choppy waters. No use wasting torpedos on these suckas, water is calm and they are taken care of with the deck gun also. Out of the channel I surface and run across a couple of small merchant ships. I get through the channel undetected, but it is a PITA because my sonar guy decides to detect every boat near and it wont let me go anything above 8x time compression :/. Getting close to the channel i submerge since it is day, and the channel is teaming with patrol boats. On the way to the channel, a small torp boat decided to engage me on the surface, but my deck gun made short work of him.

My assigned patrol sector is AM51(?), and out of Lorien, it means either going the long way around Scapa Flow, or braving it through the English Channel. My first patrol out of Lorien has been a bitch, this single patrol has lasted for several sessions over about 3 days so far! It is nice to have a bunch more torps now - View image here:. I finally transferred to the 2nd flotilla (sometime in campaign late 1940) and hooked up with an IXB.
